Fairways are burned up badly, was like playing in a cow pasture
Really dissapointed in this course. I guess it was designed to be like British golf where the fairways are brown, but it was well beyond that. They were badly burned up. It was like playing in a cow pasture. I don't think the intent was to to have hard pan lies with little or no grass in the middle of the fairway. Just terrible.
Course was terrible!
THERE IS NO GRASS. YOUR HITTING OFF DEAD GRASS AND CEMENT. WHAT A JOKE.
Stay away from Lost Canyon! Horrible at any price!
Visiting and thought I would get in a round of golf. When I showed up, the pro-shop told me they were no longer watering the course, except greens and this is why I got a Golf Now deal. He joked about experiencing the British Open. If you enjoy playing on a cement cow pasture, this is the course for you!
In addition to the terrible course conditions, the cart we were given had probably not been serviced since it was purchased, almost no brakes. It was no joke to be scared silly any time we went down a hill. Would have returned the cart, except we noticed that all the other carts were having the same issues (could hear cart brakes sceaching all over the course). No brakes on a hilly course.
I have only one question, the course was full, so do I conclude that golfers in Los Angeles area think this is golf? This is the only bad golf experience I have had and I sure would not want to repeat it. Makes me think much less about Golf Now!
WE upgrade
they have 2 courses, shadow course, and Sky course
the Sky course is in better shape, so the starter gave us an option to upgrade to the Sky course for an extra 15 dollars, and it was worth it... overall it was a good round..
Not worth the $13 golfnow rate!
Most of the greens were well kept, but a few had severe fungus on them and cracking on the surface(like a desert). The tee boxes were green but not in good shape. Some tee boxes had severe weeds growing on them and some had growth in between the tees. The fairways were dead and bone dry. The golfnow rate was $13 and now I know why. There should have been a note on the website or at least a notice at the course itself. Do not book online unless you call ahead for current conditions. Until then, I'm out!
The course itself would be amazing if it were only in playable condition. It is a very challenging layout that rewards good shots and punishes the rest of us. Bring extra balls.
worst fairway conditions I've ver seen in 21 years of playing golf
it's obvious that they are trying to kill this course of f by providing 0 dollars worth of maintenance. They did water the greens, they were average. however tee boxes and fairways looks like they have been neglected for several months, and when I mean the neglected I mean zero water. literally dirt fairways. I wish I could articulate how much of a joke the conditions were. I wouldn't pay more than $15 to play this course,
This course stinks
The Shadow Course has changed into an absolute disaster. The only thing green is the tee boxes (also filled with weeds) and the greens (some severely damaged). Everything else has the water turned off and is dead as a door nail. Apparently the management plans to sell this track to a real estate developer. They shouldn't even keep this course open with the deplorable conditions. I thought $40 was a "good deal", but $10 would have been more appropriate. I'll never play this hole again. Other than that, it was just fine...:-)
Out in the Mountains
The course was beautiful and majestic and extremely challenging for us. The fairways were rough and fast but you have to have a great deal of accuracy in order not to lose balls. The location was spectacular and we loved being in the wilderness, even saw a coyote or two. The Clubhouse attendant was great and gave us good information about the course. We had a great time being humbled by this difficult course but look forward to coming back real soon.
Fairways are completely brown and hard. This makes a hard course even harder.
The only green spots on the course are the greens and the tee box. Fairways are brown, tee-boxes in poor shape. Greens are mostly OK.
The Shadow course at Lost Canyons is poorly maintained.
I was very disappointed with the condition of the Shadow Course.
The landing area on many of the fairways was sand/dirt.
The course has a great layout. Need to water fairways.
The course needs water landing area. All the fairways was a cow pasture. Middle of the fairway and you're hitting from dirt.
dont waste your money
the cource is dirt sand traps hard as rock no maintenace done at all. Even the golf carts are in bad shape our cart rolled down a hill with the parking brake on. Told the starter he laughed and said all the carts are bad. Told management about it they did nothing about it. we bought 5.00 beers out there and the weren't cold this is the worst couce i have ever been on and management doesn't care they just want your money.
Fairways were downtown brown but still playable. Greens were taken care of and rolled well. A few of the tee boxes needed attention
This was the first time that I have played this course. Pretty challenging layout and beautiful grounds. As soon as I got over the brown I was fine. In fact, I will plan to play it again
You should tell us ahead about the course is not watered, and fairway is not done maintenance for the season
The course is not done maintenance at all for whole season
Water the course!
The only portion of the course receiving water are the greens. The fairways are dry as a desert. White balls blend in with the dirt/dead grass. Bunkers are hard as a rock.
Other than that, a very peaceful and quiet atmosphere. Bring lots of balls because the OB is natural terrain, very thick shrubbery. I usually only lose two balls during a round. I think my count was around ten for this course.
Needs closing
Terrible. I've played Shadow Course multiple times; it's a beautiful location and a challenging course. Unfortunately it's been allowed to deteriorate to a condition which is a disgrace. At $10 a round it would be over priced. There is barely a blade of grass on the fairways after the 1st hole, the tee boxes didn't appear to have been mown in a week, many of the greens had brown patches, there were no ball washers, there was no sand in most of the bunkers, the GPS system has been removed from the carts and there were almost no sprinkler heads with yardage markers. I have never played a course in such bad condition before and hopefully never will again.
This course is a cow pasture
Paid $40 as a hot deal. Advertised prices for weekend play are close to $100. I felt cheated at $40 so paying $100 is not an option. The fairways were completely blind and hard as rocks. There were no visible markers to determine distance and my phone app was rendered useless due to the area. It looks like a course on the verge of a sale. Maintenance seems non-existent except for half of the greens that seemed to be in decent shape.
This used to be a High End course
its been about 5 years since i played LC. Back in the day this was a high end course. The staff is as friendly as ever. The Shadow Course was dried out except the greens. I guess this is what make the fairways hard and fast LOL. The Sky course greens were in very good shape. I can't say this about all the tee boxes and fairways. The course was worth the $49 but I wouldn't pay anymore then that.
Course in terrible condition
Lost Canyons has two courses, Sky and Shadow. We played Shadow and the guy working in the Pro Shop told us the course was a little brown, and there had been a few complaints, just to warm us. Well let me warn you, it is in TERRIBLE conditions. No water being used on the fairways, so they are ALL completely dead, a few holes actually had gopher holes ON the green, and weeds EVERYWHERE, including tee boxes. We talked to the guy in the Pro Shop afterwards and he told us they are letting this course go because it costs to much to keep up 2 different courses. We were warned, but it was MUCH worse then they led on. Let me warn you, if you are going to play Lost Canyons, make sure you play SKY and not Shadow.
