Great views. Terrible golf!
Played both the shadow and sky golf courses. Our rates were amazing for both rounds. Upon arrival the golf course looks beautiful. This was the last good thing that happened. Also be prepared to be charged for the GPS if you need one.
The overall condition of the golf course is poor. The sky couse is better then the shadow course however this does not say much. The grounds are like hitting off of cart paths and the bunkers need a new layer of sand. Greens are in fair condition. There is a lack of drinking stations and there was no cart service either day we were there.
Course with great potential.
I found the course to be in a great setting, but lacked a lot in order to make it player friendly. The fairways were in poor condition as it was already very dry. The golf carts were in good operating conditions, but the GPS system was antiquated and only gave you basic information. The markings were missing on half the holes and it was difficult to navigate from hole to hole. Pace of play was acceptable. I found it uncomfortable when arriving or departing to drop off your bag and then getting your cart assigned. The carts were staged about 75 yards away from drop-off placement and you had to either make two trip or carry your gear.
Shadow Course needs some work
Great value for the course. Only paid $19 to play the shorter unkept course at Lost Cyn. Good news is that during the week you can usually play in 3 hours. This used to be one of the great golf locations in SoCal. Unfortunately they have not maintained it. The fairways and tee boxes are short but weedy. The greens are still relatively nice. I wouldn't pay more than $25 to play this one.
They are letting the course go. Dead fairways, tee boxes non manicured
They are letting the course go. You should not play this course until they lower the rates to $20.00
It must have been nice back in the day!
They must have made a choice between the Sky & Shadow course which one to maintain more. The Shadow course is in bad need of maintenance. The tee boxes are awful, the fairways are hard & dry. You think you hit a good shot in the middle of the fairway and you cannot find the ball because it's bouncing all over the place. The greens are in decent shape though which is the only saving grace of the course. Weeds are everywhere, the bridges are dilapidated. In some holes you think you are looking at a quarry.
a little water might help..
The course is a challenge by itself then add the lack of attemtion to the faiways. You better play it smart off the tee. Hard to do if you never played the course due to blind tee shots. I like their sky course much better.
burned out conditions
Played for first time - great layout but was the course is disappearing. Hardly any grass left, everything is burned out and hard. I think they are putting all the resources into the Sky course and letting the Shadow course deteriorate. Too bad, but I guess those are the economics.
looks like they have not watered the course in a month. The fairway is like concrete. the tee boxes look like cow pastures.
course is harldy worth the $38. Only cousre I know that charges a $2 fee for use of the GPS.
It is one step above a muni course.
Always enjoy this course but conditions are deteriorating.
Lost Canyon Shadow course is always challenging with its unique setting buit the couse conditions need attention. Tee boxes were not level, fairways dry and greens hard, plus strong winds came on the back9 making play even more difficult.
borwn fairways and weeds everwhere. Not in a position to open for play.
the course needs a lot of work right now. It is in a shameful condition with no maintanance to show. I played without knowing the current situatuion. Avoid it and ask the staff to give you an explanation. Shall close down rather than disppointing players.
No water??
Apparently, they have decided not to water the fairways anymore and most other areas need attention. Fairways are barren for the most part. You almost get the idea the course may be shut down soon. Not good value at any price. Play the Sky course instead.
Great Deal for a top notch place
great views with challenging holes. Friendly staff
Not what it once was...
I played this course in it's glory days, and it was amazing. Well kept, green fairways, and beautiful greens. I played this course recently, and unfortunately it's gone downhill. Extremely dry, and not well maintained at all. I'm not sure about the sky course, but the mountain course was disappointing.
So poorly maintained. Tin Cup's driving range is in better condition.
Course poorly maintained. Such sparse grass that it was difficult to tell fairway from rough (and on 18th fairway, practice swing kicked up dust). No ball washers on any hole. No snack bar of any kind out on course, and snack cart was not seen between 4th and 15th holes. Then when went in to complain about our experience, staff was dismissive, more concerned with himself than even saying "Sorry, I regret you did not enjoy the course." Got a major 40% discount on normal green fees and we still felt ripped off. Until this course learns to better maintain its course and treat its patrons, I will never visit or recommend to anyone.
Not the same.
This isn't the Lost Canyons that I remember. The staff is still great, and the clubhouse is still beautiful, but the course has seen better days. Lots of brown and not a lot of grenn. A guy playing with me described it as a "goat ranch", and I have to agree. Sky is in a little better shape but could use some TLC as well.
Tough one
This was great to play. Lots of natural terrain to lose your ball in! Brown fairways need work. Very dry. Remote setting
great golf corse ,lay out was good, but poor maintenance.
I played golf at this course years ago , was very goog condition, but I don't want to play again this course , Why ?
green is very bad. lot of weeds, thousands of ball marks, and
fairway is like a asphalt, too hard and poor grasses.
Very Very Poor condition
We were excited to go play an upscale resort but after teeing off we were "teed off". The golf course is in very poor condition. The only green in the dirt fairways come from the weeds. The bunkers are hard as cement with weeds in them and the greens are spotty with disease or something. We were so disappointed. We would not play it again if they paid us to play. See attached photos

Course needs fairways watered
fairways were brown and many dirt patches. Beautiful area and nice layout just needs upkeep
Poor Shape
The fairways are very dry and in very poor shape. Bunkers are more like dirt than sand. I actually had to pull a weed on the green collar to putt towards the hole. I would not play this course again
