South Course at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad
CARLSBAD, Calif. - An old school classic golf course designed by Dick Wilson, the South Course at the La Costa Resort and Spa has a rich history of playing host to professional golf tournaments.
In 2010, La Costa Resort and Spa began a run of hosting the LPGA with the new Kia Classic. Before that, the courses at La Costa were the site of the PGA Tour for 25 years, including the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in 2000 and 2002.
While professional events are played on a combination of holes from the Champions and the Legends Courses, the Legends is perceived to be a little tighter with more narrow fairways. The par 5s are particularly strong, including the 575-yard 17th, which plays along the central lake on the property.
