Moved to Oceanside from Northern California. I’m always excited to play new and different courses. Not knowing much about the area, the title “Country Club” and Castle Creek should not be used in the same sentence! I played this course for the first and last time on 6/27/2020. Usually I get a warm inviting feeling when I can start seeing very green manicured parts of a golf course as I’m driving to the entrance. This one, nothing. The tip off should have been how negative the course describes each hole of play and how not to play it. Especially the third hole about rattle snakes. Also I should have taken in consideration the reviews. I’m a 6 handicap and to pay $61.00 for this course would have been an embarrassment had I brought my friends here. The greens...slow, bumpy, and diseased. Fairways...unfair, undistinguished. I can go on and on in detail how bad this course is. Even if I was comped, I wouldn’t play it. It has a great layout but for them to just let this course go and ask for the amount they ask is horrible. Their maintenance grid from 1 to 10, and 10 being the worst is an 8. Some of the bunkers have burrowing animal holes that have been there for months. The course has great potential only if someone like the tv show overhauling re-did the whole course. Until then...I won’t be back. I’ll be upset for a long time as to why I gave them $61.00 to play here.
