Fun at a good price.
A reasonable bargin with hours of fun. The Lakes course is a good mix of long and short holes with a couple of changeling over the water tees. One is an island green similiar to Sawgrass. Course could be better maintained but all in all well worth the price. I recommend Cottonwood.
Very accommudating
we called them because we are behind schedule and anticipating traffic that we will be late. They said just get here soon you can and will take care of you.
In general is a good course
We had a good day of golf, kind of cool because of the weather, but it was nice.
Great grass especially during winter.
This course has great grass compared to Mt Woodson and Fallbrook GC, both with a lot of brown grass, plus a great price right now.
The Lakes Course
Played the lakes course and the course is in bad shape from the green that are painted to give a green look and they also have spots of weeds mixed in. The fairways are hard and needs some TLC as well as do several of the sand traps that don't have much sand in them. I would not recommend this course to any of my friends.
The Absolute Worst Course, Ever.
I've played courses in po-dunk town in Texas that are pristine compared to this course. There is literally not one good thing I experienced at this course. Being that it is in San Diego, I had an idea that it'd be, at worst, an average course. If you enjoy hitting off of concrete fairways with 20 different types of weeds and grasses, than look no further. But if you want to golf at an average course, don't waste your time and money on this rip-off of a course. The staff is just as bad as the course. It fits hand in hand.
Fairways and greens a mix of various grass and sand. Greens very rough and a mix of different textures
First time. Staff not very friendly. Got there for a 10:00 tee time and was told had to wait till after 9:00 to ck in??? Range off mats and limited to 200 yds. Prices for golf shop very high. Cart paths sand and very uneven. Only saving point were the friendly and very attractive cart women. Fast, efficient and accomodating! Was a high of 84 on Jan 22nd and the creeks were rising fast!!
Needs attention
The greens are terrible , grass could be substituted for all the dirt. Plant some grass and replace a good portion the greens and it would be a great place to play.
It was easy for new players
I paid $15 dollars for my greens fee from an online deal, my total payment was $32.98 for 2 greens fee's , a cart, and we narrowed clubs (complementary if u give your Id) we played the lakes course ; and for what I paid I was pleased. Yes there were some eye soars of un-kept sheds, I'm pretty sure there was crab grass, and the grass overall was very hard, I felt I got what I paid for. Holes had great distances were great for new comers as there were not many bends or traps. There were some gorgeous water traps on the lakes course which was a home to some ducks, so that was nice to see. I didn't like all the leaves in the fairways from the trees, it made it hard to spot balls.
You can make a good score on this course.
Nice and open. It has a great view and the holes are long but not to long.
Decent course for winter
Not bad, except for the amount of leaves on the ground that could be maintened better.
the course has changed for the better over the years
the best thing about this course was the golfnow.com rate of 21 bucks. the next best thing was the pace of play...because few people were out there....the greens were adequate...fairways about the same...it almost seems (not quite) like the course has become a cow pasture...there are several fun holes on the course though...there is much water out there....although none of it came into play for me....the average golfer will lose some balls though as there is even an island green par 3...so the overall analysis is simple: if you can get a rate of under 25 bucks with a cart...this course is worth it...anything over this rate, you are over paying..one more thing...a bogie golfer can break 90 on a god day here..
Great Place to play Golf!
The only drawback: very hard to find the ball on fairway, even more on the side where there are shadows because of the leaves. But, I don't think it is because of lack of maintenance, the Course is in great shape, I think it is Mother Nature and the time of year; the wind was blowing steady.
Needs some attention
The pros:
Overall the course was fine for the price we paid. The staff was incredibly friendly and the pace of play was awesome. Starter was getting people off at exactly the quoted time and the whole round on a relatively crowded day only took 4 hrs 15 min.
The cons:
The greens were pretty poorly kept and still recovering from the airification punch marks even though that was probably done at least 6 weeks back. The fairways could use some attention due to the grass being nearly dead but that could also be due to the time of year.
In short, I'd play there again, mostly because of the price.
course greens were punch.
notice of the course condition was not posted of were the customers informed. their was a frost delay of 30 mins and the fairway had to many leafs. did not enjoy
undecided
Tried to golf on Monday, Veteran's Day. There was a huge back up for carts. We waited twenty minutes. We were offered free drinks, which was nice. Off to a late start, we found that the greens had just been punched. Our original tee time was 12:20, made it out at 12:45. Backed up and bad greens made for a slow day. By 3:45 we were only on the 10th hole. With the time change we were never going to finish. We stopped and went back up to complain. At first we were told, ”Too bad, you booked through Golfnow”. Asked for a manager, he gave us two free rounds any time. I'll try again when greens are better. Was told two weeks.
Fun course to play.
Very good value for the money. Location is fairly central to the East County making it easy to meet up with friends.
Good course
The course itself isn't bad, but if I had one gripe it would be the greens. I think they need a bit more care on them
very poor conditions
Don't waste your money! I have played their Ivanhoe course and enjoyed it. The lakes course is in such poor condition it was not worth my time. The pace of play was slow and there were no marshals in sight. The course was recently renovated but one would not know it. Tee boxes were full of divots and the greens had so many types of grass in them that your ball bounces around.
