very good golf course
requires dry cleaning leaves because it is difficult to find the ball when you're off the ferway
Nice course
I played early in the morning this past Saturday. It was a little chilly the first couple of holes but the pace of play was great. I think we finished in around 4 hrs. Good course for bombing a driver...
Enjoy playing the Lakes course, greens are in good shape except for the actual lakes.
Although I enjoy playing here and the greens are in good shape, the lakes are the total opposite. Some of the lakes have no water and the ones that actually do, are merky and smell like sewage. It would be a great course all around if they could attend to them for a more visual appearance. But aside from that was a good golfing experience otherwise.
Great Value
Seems like they have been putting some time into the course. Looks really good.
Fun course for the casual golfer
I'm a casual golfer. I like to say that I'm a member of the LBGA... the Laid Back Golf Assoc. We used GolfNow to book an 11:30 tee time and got more than our money's worth. The course has a relaxed atmosphere, the weather was perfect and the course, while not the most difficult around, provided a decently challenging layout that was more forgiving than most. Great for the casual golfer. Definitely get a cart (usually included in the fees at GolfNow) because it can be a long, long way between some tee boxes. This is great for a getaway game or a tournament. Not for the snobbish, expensive country club types or hot shot pros who want TPC type conditions. I found it comfortable and fun... just like I like 'em.
The course was a good time.
The course was in good condition and layed out well. The signs to the tee boxes was confusing and far apart. But the overall experience was very nice I would definitely tell my friends about it.
Great course for the average golfer.
I try to book during the week when the course is not too busy and we can get a great price. We are average golfers and enjoy the casual atmosphere. We always have great service on the course and in the restaurant!!!!
Great play, open fairways, large greens
I thought the course was a good one to play. The greens had some bare spots, but were overall in good condition. The fairways allowed the ball to run and often were wide enough for ameteur players to play. The tee boxes were not maintained very well and it looked as though many players took no attempt to repair their divots, leading to poor conditions. There were also a couple of sloped tee boxes, or boxes with peaks. Some leveling would be good to see. Also, the markers I felt were sub-par (not good in this sense). The club painted sprinkler heads which were sometimes hard to find. I think they would have benefitted from sticks to allow players the opportunity to gauge their shot distances easier (for those without GPS). Overall, it was a very fun course. Not terribly expensive, not crowded. I would play again given the chance.
Great golfing on a budget!
Except for a VERY slow foresome ahead of us, we had a very pleasant day golfing in San Diego.
Great course for all skill levels
Had another memorable day at the course. Had my highs and lows but overall mostly positives.
Even a groundskeeper brought a club I left behind on a previous hole and that really tells you there are some good workers at cottonwood.
Definitely would come back to this golf course and recommend to my friends.
where's my ball?
So Many Leaves Even On The Fairway..We Spent So.Much Time.Looking For Our BallS, Even WellHit Ones. Greens Were GoOd And For $25 On A FridayMorning I GUess I Can't Complain. I KnewWhatI Was GettingInto So IT Lived UpToExpEctations. Take That HowYouWill
Decent course with enough challenges for mid handicap players
Bring sunglasses for cart riding because cart trails are dirt roads and when driving behind another cart you will get dirt in your eyes. No fold up windshield. Quite a few water hazards so prepare yourself. You can fish on the first hole of the course if desired. Overall a decent course if you can get a discounted price. Weekends are $45 or more. In my opinion you can find more decent courses at that price range. Maybe a better looking course in the winter time.
Needs Improvements
I played on Cottonwood lakes. There was a lot of leaves laying on the course. Whenever I hit my ball towards the leave it took too much time to find my ball. There was a lot of debris on the greens and weeds growing through the greens. Nobody fixes their divots so there were so many craters to putt around.
Nice course, had lots of fun friendly services and nice course.
Nice course, had lots of fun friendly services and great scenery.
Course needs a lot of attention
I booked the course based on pictures and I was disappointed when I arrived. It was a fun course. Nice for my first round in a few years but the condition of the fairways was terrible. The roughs were twice as bad. The greens were acceptable but still below average. I would play it again but it was in my opinion not worth the 45 bucks I paid. I have seen a lot nicer at better prices.
Very poor course
When you drive in it looks like you are driving into a county fair. Very disorganized and tacky. Clubhouse and bar/restaurant are directly from the 70's. From the 1st tee on you have a bad taste in your mouth. They allow fishing from their pond next to the 1st tee, which has several different grasses/weeds growing and is very uneven, (as is every tee box). The greens are in as bad as shape as the tee boxes, poorly manicured- unknown roots growing throughout. The bunkers are filled with river sand- pebbles throughout. I paid $45 to play this course and deserve a refund. I would never recommend someone wasting their time or money to play this course.
Some really odd holes with no yardage markers on some
The staff is always friendly at Cottonwood but the Lakes course
is a mess. Fairways were without definition on most holes and the greens were in rough shape. The only way I will play this course is for free and a hot dog kicked in. Do not play this course.
Fair price for Fair Course
The "upside" to Cottonwood Golf Course is the staff; friendly, courteous, professional, and able to meet the customers needs/questions.
Playing from the white tees, I found the course moderately challenging. Fairways were difficult due to uneven grass. Bunkers varied drastically from some with sand and some as gravel pits. Greens are just a couple weeks away from being aerated, so i would expect improvement in overall conditions once completed.
Pace of play was abysmal !
Considering the excellent price of fees from Golf Now, I felt Cottonwood was a "fair course for a fair price!"
Not bad for the money
The course isn't in great shape, but a decent value for what you pay. It's a fun track and we played in 3 1/2 hours (we were a twosome).
