It's a good Course
If you play frequently, but don't want to trash the budget. It's a good economical course to play. One key note, watch your ball all the way until it stops rolling. Easy to lose in the fairway
bad greens
Greens are in terrible shapeneed to be punched and fix so they roll smoothly way too many bumps and divots not being fixed fairways are in okay shape
rough condition
this is an old ugly coarse that has run it's coarse. Fairways are sparse of grass and you need to find a tuft of grass to put your ball on in order to hit it. The greens are terrible shape and full of weeds, even the golf carts are dirty. If you haven't played for a while and just need a place to go out and practice swinging , and don't care about your score, I suppose it would be all right since the price was right for the conditions.
Lakes Garbage
I have played here off and on for 35 years. We had to wait over a hour past our tee time due to a lack of carts. Pathetic! The greens were the worst I have ever played on, and that is saying something after 50 years of golf. Sadly this course is off my list. Not even worth it to play for $5. plenty of other better choices.
Goodbye, Cottonwood!
Good course
Some holes are challenging. The pin placement made most holes difficult this roubd. Fun course though.
Good for the price
The main thing I would change...#16. Island greens are tough enough, little lone one that is 200 yards from the back tees. Note to Greenskeeper: It's OK to put the pins more than 3 feet from the edges of the greens.
Good value
Poor green condition
Bare spots on fairways
Sand Traps hard ... void of enough sand
Thanksgiving Outing
Course was in good shape with consistent greens but sand traps need work. Could use a Marshall to keep groups from turning into sixes and to ensure extremely slow groups allow others to play through.
Course condition
I've played Ivanhoe and the Lakes courses many times during the past 30 years. Never in my life have I played on such bare bone fairways. What appears to be grass is merely a facsimile.
The greens are another matter, While grassy, they were too fast for any decent putting. Plus the greens looked like downtown Bagdad with all the ball pock marks. Is there some rule against fixing a ball mark or do these players think they nestle the ball in so gently as to not disturb the surface.
Course needs roving marshals and better course maintenance..
Good day of golf
Had a great day of golf with my son. Very slow play it took 5 1/2 hours to play. I didn't care was enjoying the day on the course with my son. Next time I'll bring a lunch since there was only chips and candy offered by the cart girl and no lunch stop after nine wholes. Besides the slow play and no lunch we had a great time.
Grvalue for the money
Interesting and challenging. It is great value for the money
Dog Track!
Played here with a friend from out of town. I heard from a couple of different sources that they had drilled 3 new wells and the course was in "great shape!" WRONG! This course was NOT in Great shape, thats why I rated it extremely challenging, it was in terrible shape as always. Spend your money somewhere else, not worth it at any price. I used to play their a lot years ago and it was ok-ish. After the round in the 19th hole, we sat there for 15 minutes and watched waitresses run back and forth and wait on their regulars. BAD EXPERIENCE!
Better condition that last time I played.
Tee boxes and fairways were in pretty good shape for the end of summer. Greens were a bit iffy at times, but I've definitely played on far worse. The range mats DEFINITELY need to be replaced.
My only complaint is that there were quite a few singles that were sent out behind our group (a twosome). The faster pace of play for singles led to our group getting passed up a few times, and always lots bunched up behind our group. I'd recommend grouping some of the singles.
no control
I have a problem when not only ambassadors, but management won't enforce rules such as allowing a SEVENSOME play as a single group. Especially when said sevensome won't allow anyone to play through.
Totally cool staff!
Some courses, specially municipal courses, staff can be quite stiff, unfriendly and unyielding. At Cottonwood, the staff is so nice and non uptight they make you want to come back again and again.
Great service provided by the staff! Lots of variety on "The Lakes" course.
Very cordial and friendly staff. Rex Cole and Christina run the club house and special events respectively.
Lot of bare spots.
Multiple dry spot.. Sand on 4th was hard. Unmaintained? Still a good place for the price.
Not worth the price at all!
The fairways and greens are in bad shape and spotty. Even after hitting it in the middle of the fairway you cannot expect to have a good lie. For the price it is not worth at all. The course is nothing like you see in pictures.
Good course for the money!
Played the Lakes at Cottonwood. Play speed was good. No complains. Great value for the course! Will play again.
Fast play!
I was pleased that we got to play the course in under 3 hours (2 of us taking our time) but the greens were inconsistent, the fairways were DEAD. Basically like playing off hard dirt 2nd hit. I don't think I will be returning till winter if ever. With more water and green maintenance the layout is really fun. (Played lakes only, Ivanhoe may be different)
