Great Experience
First time playing this course. Beautiful, well-designed course.
Weather was hot (90+ degrees) but other than that, it was great!
Russell
We paid for 18 holes but only played 9 because course was so poor. It started out with the driving range which was worn rubber mats hitting out of a canyon. The fairways weren't really fairways with 2or 3 different varieties of grass on each hole. There were tee boxes that were so hard that a tee couldn't be inserted more than 1/4th inch. Greens were ok. Play was slow. I will not play the course again.
Fun course to play
Some forced carries. Course is very good shape. I would play it again.
Nice Fun Course
We played this course on a 105 degree day (6-9-14) for the first time and despite the heat had a great day. Wide fairways, nice greens, cold water on course, and fast pace as not many people were playing in the hot weather. Location right off Sierra College Blvd was easy to get to, and the forgiving wide fairways made this day quite fun. Look forward to a return on a cooler day, really enjoyed this course which given the current drought was in excellent condition!
Fun in the Sun in Rocklin
I had a business meeting in the morning but I was able to get an afternoon round of golf in at the Rocklin Golf course. I am glad to find this course to unwind on a warm afternoon. I drove through a charming town to get to this charming golf course. The staff was very accomodating and the course was in good shape. I would play here again when staying or working in this neighborhood. Thank you Golf Now for connecting with this golf course.
Not Sunset Whitney
Good mix of side hill lies and flat. Good bunker placement and unexpected creeks. Greens in great condition and thick grass. Rather long walk from parking lot to pro shop? Shape shot a plus on many holes.
Challenging but not ball busting
Played on Memorial Day. Started about 20 minutes late, but the pace of play was good. Finished in about 4.5 hrs. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. The traps need some work. There is only a thin layer of sand and several of the traps were wet in the center - even in the 95 degree temps. Overall we had a very good experience and will be going back again.
Very enjoyable
If I have one complaint it would be the holes are not well marked and we fumbled a bit trying to figure out which hole we were on (more than once). We traveled 60+ miles and were not disappointed with this well kept and fun course. The temperature was upper 90's, if not, 100 degrees and that may have contributed to a lack of players and a quick round, which was great! Lots of trees and some nice views. The staff was very nice, too. We'll be back!
Rejected
Planned to pay the course, paid through GolfNow and were ready to go. Received a cancellation notice, that we couldn't be accommodated, no sorry, no nothing. Poor actions by their staff, so mapping out that area, there are plenty of places to play where you get treated at least decently. No sorry, no voucher, no deal for later, nothing but sorry, you're cancelled. We'll play other location who act professionally and have customer service.
Classic design
Small poa annua greens well kept. Staff good. Yamaha carts good and clean. Overall a good value. Has new black tees now I didn't remember from before. Played whites (play it forward) and made more pars than average. good day.
New favorite course found!
So the only reason I did not give this course 5 stars is because I truly believe there is room for improvement. But, after yesterday, this just became my new favorite course. A few miles away from Sacramento this course is as scenic as it is challenging. The wide open fairways lure you into a false sense of security while the narrow approaches onto the green demand accurate shots throughout the game. The staff were very friendly and the facilities were clean. The carts were about a month and a half old. The pace of play was decent. Just remember your handicap and don't be too embarrassed to pick up when the wheels come off the cart and just enjoy the course and a beer. I went there as a single from GolfNow so I can't wait to introduce this course to my friends!
great course all around
I have played this course a few times. Its a well maintained course. Has many challenging features along with forgiving fairways. You can play this course with a relaxed nature and still keep a steady pace that'll let you finish in about 4 hrs.
This course has a good layout.
I had not played course in a few years. The layout is very good and the course was in better condition than the last time I played it. Back nine seems to be be in better condition than the front nine. I will play the course again as it a good course to hone your game on.
Old fashion Golf
Rocklin Golf Club was a pleasant surprise. It's mature landscaping, challenging greens and overall beauty made it a very enjoyable round. It was old school golf. No gps's and lack of distance indicators made you have to judge your distance from sight which I had not done in years, but it just added to the challenge which I really enjoyed. Overall it was a great round and a place I will certainly play more often.
VERY ENJOYABLE DAY!
The day began and ended with a very welcoming, pleasant, professional and unassuming pro shop staff! Tee boxes and fairways in great shape, greens rolling smooth and quick, just the way I like them! Combine all that with the beautiful weather and a "heck of a value" on the green fees...who could ask for more?! To quote a little known actor (LOL), "I'll be back!"
birdieb
A great day of golf! The course was in good shape(not great). For the money spent it was a very good value. Staff is always very pleasant!
The greens are the defense of Rocklin GC
Rocklin GC is in great shape this time of year (spring). The greens are rolling very well and extremely smooth. The courses best defense are the smallish greens with some subtle undulations. Beware as it seems they are all elevated and run back to front.
Great challege, and Vavlue
Staff is always friendly, course is in great shape, if you want to test your game, it's a great course to do so. Greens fast, and in excelent condition. Price Value could not be better for a championship course.
Solid Value
Overall this is a good course, it is one of my local staples along with Lincoln Hills and Turkey Creek.
Staff is always great on every occasion I've played
Fairway conditions were fair, but the greens rolled fairly true. They were somewhat receptive, and speed was average for the area.
The actual track is fun from any set of tees you play, but overall pretty straight forward. It's enough of a challenge for a single digit, but easy enough for a high index to enjoy their round.
The only major negative is speed of the round, but that is common to nearly every Sacramento course. It seems that every course has lost the knowledge about how to set up easy pins for a weekend round to speed up play, and there wasn't a marshall (again very common to the Sac area).
End of the day this course will always be a go to for a fun affordable round.
Fairways and greens in good condition
The fairways and greens were in great condition. playability was nice not to much standing water, greens very receptive. The rough was very deep and thick, hard to play out of must keep in the fairway to have a good approach shot.
