The trademark railroad ties and pot bunkers are visible throughout this Pete Dye course. The ruthlessly hacker crushing holes are not. At Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa Pete Dye Resort Course in Rancho Mirage, Dye very much keeps the resort player in mind. It is still target golf when you get closer to the greens, but it's not impossible target golf.
Pete Dye Resort Course is a 6,706-yard par 70 that's been open since 1987. It's hosted more than it's share of events, from the California State Open to the Senior PGA to LPGA and Nike Tour Qualifying School to the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Tournament. Mission Hills South still delivers some of those expected Dye thrills.
The No. 1 handicap hole (No. 7) is a 446-yard par 4 with the slightest green, tucked away and water guarded.
"The Dye Course is very playable," head pro Randy Duncan said. "Dye has a history of having challenging layouts and this one is in excellent condition. I can't imagine a course with any better greens."
