Good value course
The course condition used to be better. But overall, it's still a good value course. Very challenging from the tips!
great course in the beautiful Woodacre valley.Best deal in Marin by far.
Just a great course. So much better than any other course in Marin when you compare price, location, pace of play and condition.Peacock,Stone Tree, even Indian Valley, can't compare to the value of San Geronimo, not to mention the views. No wind or expensive green fees (Stone Tree). No slow play (Indian Valley). No quirky greens and bad attitude in the pro shop(Peacock).
Great Course - some challenges
Played this a couple of times now (both as a single). It starts quite easily but then just as you are thinking there's nothing to it, two or three holes come along which make you step back a little. There is some water that is quite strategically placed and if you don't know the course it can catch you out. I like it!!
Well-maintained, scenic course with excellent, fast greens.
San Geronimo is a very beautiful course with excellent greens. Be aware that there is no driving range and minimal practice facilities. The fairways and tee boxes are not exceptional due to tree roots, general usage, erosion, and drainage. Fairways were excessively wet in some places, and thin in others. Overall, this is a fine course, but funding probably limits their ability to achieve excellence. Play it for the scenery and the challenging greens.
The course was in great shape, I sure wish they would repair the cart paths. They are awful.
The course was in great shape but the cart paths are in awful condition. It would be really nice if they could fix the paths to be smooth rather than the holes and bumps.
course needs attention
The fairways are in rough shape and the overall condition of this course is not so good. I'd recommend playing elsewhere.
Good course layout will challenge most players.
The tees and greens are in good shape as are most fairways. Like a lot of public courses they are letting some of the fringe areas to return to natural conditions including using less water. There are a few hard pan areas that should be avoided. Overall a good course with some blind shots on the back 9 so trust your scorecard or the advice of a frequent player.
Challenging from the back tees with some excellent individual holes; beautiful setting with good greens
San Geronimo is in a beautiful valley west of Fairfax, very open country with long vistas and several shots played against the backdrop of the hills/mountains. The course was in playable shape, with good greens but inconsistent and very dry fairways. Overall the conditions were not a negative. The course has no weak holes, a lot of variety and some real gems (3, 6, 8, 12, 14, 15, 16). 11 is an odd, unusual par 4 that plays semi-blind even if you split the middle of the fairway off the tee. It's the only hole I don't really like. Overall, the course is very enjoyable and long enough from the back to be challenging, with many very demanding shots. I've now played at SG three times and will go back again.
Beautiful locale. Funky course/green design.
If you want a beautiful place to practice shots, San Geronimo is fine. If you want to shoot a score without severable inevitable "big numbers," in less than 5 hours, go somewhere else.
Great greens, Mediocre Fairway
San Geronimo is a pretty course with incredibly diverse greens. Fairway conditions are something to be improved upon.
Nice Course
Its a nice course, good layout, very beautiful surroundings. A few of the holes are a bit gimmicky, and the greens were a bit bumpy and furry.
But for the most part, it's a cool course. Not sure if its worth the $65+ they charge for a green fee.
enough challenging holes to keep it interesting
I like this course you don't have to worry about hitting any houses, the traps have real sand in them and its usualy a 4 hr round whats not to like its worth the drive
Pleasant, pastoral, challengine enought for an intermediat player.
Nice layout with an easy start and progressively difficult back 9. Scenic, pastoral setting. Ground hard and without give, even on fairway.
Beautiful scenery
Rented clubs due to vacationing in bay area and very disappointed. I was missing a 5 wood and my wife's club grips were slick like glass. You would think the proshop would at least check the grips and change them if needed. Otherwise, nice course but needs attention. Worth the ride to the course. We traveled from Half Moon Bay.
Needs Serious Attention!
I love this course, I hate the condition it is in currently. Had a horrible experience yesterday when I went to play. I thought playing at 1 O'clock on a Wednesday would be safe to expect a quick round of golf. Instead what I got was an overbooked sluggish-fest. What happened was the course decided to have 3 tournaments early in the day, which of course turned into an unpleasant waiting experience every hole! Hole 3 was the worst as it is a par 3, when we pulled up, there were 2 groups ahead of us still waiting to tee off. Unbelievable. I understand this can happen occasionally, but it was a complete mess.
Now for the really bad news, THE COURSE IS IN HORRIBLE CONDITION, BEWARE! Greens were so awful that the person I was playing with made a putt that shouldn't have gone in, but did because it hit one of the thousands of spots on the greens where there was no grass. The fairways are terrible too, my ball ended up on hard pan so many times I could not count. I hate bumping my ball, but felt inclined after a few times to have to. The course is in just really really bad shape. Do not waste your time or money until they can figure out how to maintain it better.
I definitely won't go back for a long time unless they address these issues.
Always a great track, convenient, and value-golf.
Course was in great shape, as always. Pace of play is generally very fast. Today, our threesome was slowing up the pace (slow players in our midst!)... we were playing at 6:30 am, and they let a lot of singles out. when we made the turn, lots of traffic on the first tee.
Great views, greens a bit bumpy, slower than usual, but still good. Great vistas and views.
Great Course! Love to play here.
Great Course! Love to play here. Staff is friendly.
Great public course.
This is a great track. The risk, reward shots on the back nine are comparable to most private clubs and my friends who belong to those clubs have no hesitations playing here.
