This course and staff are excellent!!!
This course has character with different looks at each hole. For my level of play, it can be overwhelming. You have to be on your game to close with a decent score. The fairways are very fair. Challenges around the greens require precision with not much forgiveness for mistakes.
very good fairways
Greens were a little furry. Fairways in very good condition. Staff very friendly. Will play it again.
Course is in good shape.
Met by very friendly & helpful staff...Food was excellent!!
Course played very well
Course played long, even from the whites. Fairways where nice and the greens where playing pretty fast. Good experience and a great value.
Great Price, Great Pace of Play, Greens rolling good
Played their twice this weekend with great prices on GolfNow.
POP was very good, no more than 4 1/2 hours.
Green great, rest of course pretty good.
Moderately to very challenging from the blue tees.
Course in very good shape, greens great. bunkers need work
Course in very good shape, greens great. bunkers need work
Exceeded my expectations.
We played @ 8 a.m. on a Tuesday and we finished our round in exactly 4 hours. The course was challenging and well maintained. Very pretty and interesting holes. Course management skills a must for first time players here. Enjoyed the scenery around the course. You'd never think you were in Rocklin. My golf partner is a high handicapper from out of town and the course was more difficult than what he is used to, but he had a swell time none the less. I would definitely come back. Found out the course is going to change names very soon. Rocklin Golf Club, I think. The Groupon deal for $29. which included cart, was well worth it.
Would be great course minus wet bunkers everywhere!
This course would be super nice if it was properly taken care of. Bunker play is very difficult because all of them are wet and the sand below is very clumpy. This wouldn't be a big problem, except there are bunkers surrounding every green and thus makes it fairly easy to get into one of these wet bunkers. I'll add that it hasn't rained in about a month, so they probably are doing this with their sprinklers.
Great.
I love this course. I now list it as my home course on web sites. Staff is awesome and I will play here as often as possible.
This course is good standerd of public golf course
Over all good experience. So quiet and no rush. Good employees... Good.
This really makes you play to your strengths.
Best kept secret in Rocklin by far and the greens makes read them correctly.
Course was fun and in Pretty Good shape. .
Greens sound be great in two weeks due to punch. Staff needs to anounce players so singles know which group to join. There was 3 two somes and obviously 2 of them could have played togeher make the time seen quicker than it was. There was a NCGA effent that slowed play this day.
I will come back at this value..
This course has some fun holes.
Sunset Whitney is an older course but is in good shape with some tricky greens. It will make you use all your clubs and finishes with a short small par 3 that makes you hold your breath.
Good value
Good value fairways and greens in good shape. Good course for most golfers. Beginners to 10 handycaps
Hidden gem!!!
I have lived in sacramento for 20 years and never knew this course existed. After a round at Morgan Creek a few weeks ago I met one of the owners of both courses and his enthusiasm and love for the game of golf was contagious. He told us Sunset Whitney was in the best shape it had been in awhile and that we had to come and play it. He wasn't exaggerating on the condition of the track and I was beyond impressed. Thanks Charlie!!!
good course, good value w/discount
The course was in good shape, greens were fast, rolled true and pin placement was not sadistic
Good condition
Fairways and greens were in great shape. Other areas of the course, such as bunkers, were not as well maintained. The facility is old and shabby. Most of the holes are straight without too many challenges but it still is a fun course to play. A great value for the money.
Old course, but still decent for average golfers
I was a little taken back by how aged the clubhouse looked on my drive up; generally, that is one of the showcase pieces of any golf outing, so i began the day a little concerned with what the quality of the course was going to be...
It was also a little surprising that the first 9 only had one par 3; most of the holes were fairly straight forward, not too much activity. The greens looked like they were very dry and needed a little attention, but overall the course design was commensurate with the fees. I would recommend this to any beginner/intermediate player, but definitely not to anyone that's been playing for a while.
This course is not impressive at all.
Blah ... that is how I would describe Sunset Whitney. Greens were is pretty good condition. Tee boxes were awful... totally chewed up. Fairways were better than average but the rough was poorly maintained. Second cut or rough around the greens was tall and clumpy. Very little time and money is being spent on this course. I felt there was not a single hole that was aesthetically pretty... like I said.. Blah .this course is far far far from a Country Club quality course. It was clear to me the kind of 'public' players that play this course..jeans, t-shirts and lots of booze during the round on the cheap.. low low class...
weekday prices good
great people work there, good prices drinks and food outstanding. Its a 4 hour course during the week i never play weekends.hard to best the price at lease half dozen super great holes.
