Its a shame to see....
This course has really declined in condition since I first played it several years ago. I presume it is from the drought conditions, but other courses seem to be holding their own.
Never playing here again
I've played this course a few times, so I have knowledge about what shots to hit and where since this is a very situational golf course and not a grip it and rip it from the tee every hole type of course. But I am done playing this course. It is so frustrating to make 45 minute drive to play a course that routinely ruins good shots. On 12 I hit a perfect mid iron down the middle and it hit one of the many brown hard ground patches on the course and took a rather unfortunate bounce where it hung up in long dried weeds right on the edge of the gully. So a perfect drive turned into a wasted chip out with my third being my approach. The 16th wasn't even a fairway. No matter how good a value, I can't play this place anymore.
Bad Condition
The course is in very bad shape. Because of the drought the fairways are not watered on most of the course. It's like playing in a cow pasture.
Golf Course?
This as a cow pasture with tee boxes, greens so overwatered
you need a driver to putt.
it's unfortunate
this is a beautiful design golf course but this course is starving for water greens were in good condition fairways are almost bare it's really a shame because this course in the great rack
Bass Lake Golf
Good challenge get the course book it show's the hole's so you know were to hit this time of year the poison oak got me if you hit off course don't bother getting your ball you might get more than you paid for but the green's are good nice speed nice staff easy to get on nice driving range good cart's link's style good view's too.
It's not a golf course.
It's just rocky hills they are trying to call a golf course. No grass anywhere. If you are in the market for new clubs, this would be a good place to destroy your old set. Congrats on your new set of clubs, now find a golf course enjoy them!!
A lot of potential
Due to the drought, the course was very dry, which is to be expected. Excellent pace - 2 groups of slower players invited us to play through. Small greens. Seemed understaffed - we had to wait for the starter to finish a transaction so that he could come over to the food area to take our money. Staff was courteous and apologetic for the wait.
Nice greens...Poor fairways
Great value at 12 dollars. But the fairways and rough are downright bad. The greens are in very good shape. You win some you lose some...
Good course
I would defiantly play this course again. Great price
disappointing
heard alot about course and had to try. ONLY good thing was pace of play (4 hrs)...Tee boxes were horrible, could not find an even stance or without holes.
No difference between fairway and rough. Reminded me of playing baseball on a sandlot versus baseball field. NOT worth the drive or money from Sacramento. Go to a different course, ANY course and the playing field is MUCH better.
Nice folks, but course was terrible...
You get what you pay for
I booked this last minute on Golf Now. The tee boxes were all chewed up. The fairways were like a goat ranch. The greens looked okay from afar, until you had to put on them....the slowest I have played on in my 30+ years of golfing. The staff working was very friendly but not enough to play there again or if it was free.
Wonderful Day of Golf
Yes, it was sprinkling during portions of our round. Yes, portions of some of the greens had been recently patched. And yes, lots of golfers who play here seem to think people want their short broken tees on holes requiring a long drive. And many of the tee boxes are pretty full of divots. But despite the recent rains, the greens were mostly hard and in excellent shape, and since few local golfers hit the greens from far out, ball mark damage on the greens was very minimal. And I liked the challenges of the multi-sloped greens. Finally, no one was really out on the course, so overall it was just one great round of relaxing golf. I'd go again in a heartbeat on a threatening day.
Great for the money
Friendly staff and great price. We should support our local courses before we have to start driving to sacramento to play.
Unusual testure of grass on the greens
Many grass-less spots, significant amount of clay.
Relatively easy to locate your ball even if 10 yards off fairway. Some holes were challenging mainly due to landing area for tee shots. Familiarity with course layout and distances extremely valuable. Sand traps quite compacted: pick clean rather than explosion.
Bring extra balls
Hadn't played this course in quite a while. Got a good deal on GolfNow.com and went and played with some friends. This is a course you have to play a few times to know where to hit, lay ups on some are a must. Most of the greens were in good shape, fairways were very poor and the sand traps were good, had plenty of sand. You definitely have to hit the ball straight as some of the fairways are narrow with lots of trees on both sides. This is a tough course with these conditions and I don't see the fairways getting any better with the drought we are having. I would play this course again only if they keep the price down, too many other courses in the area around the same price which are in way better shape. Hate writing bad reviews but I have to be honest.
Dry spots
Given the dry weather it is in good condition. Several areas were definitely in need of work. Course guidance was weak so I was lucky to be with experienced players. Grass on greens was healthy but needed rolling with lots of little bumps
Brown grass challenge
The fairways are lacking green grass but the course is a good time. Greens are small and some are tiered for a nice challenge. You had better be fairly accurate from the tee if you expect to score because trees are abundant. Lots of elevation changes also add to the difficulty of the course although they through you a bone with a short par 4. Good course, play it!
Somewhat mediocre due to dry conditions
Due to drought. Fairways have pretty much deteriorated but greens in good shape. Some good variety and well placed trees offer challenge. I don't blame course mgmt. it will improve when weather cooperates
