Excellant & Challenging Course Worth Drive
This course is an excellent one to play if your out in the area and definitely worth the drive. The rough is extremely difficult so try and stay clear of that and the waste area. Best way to score is to stay in the fairways enough said. Fairways are in good condition as well as the greens. The bunkers could use some work and better sand. Tee boxes for the most part were good with some uneven spots. The weather was excellent, but I imagine it can get hot later in the summer. Water does come into play on some of the holes. GPS on the carts was good. No cart person and free water in coolers on some holes. Restrooms were spread apart, but in overall good condition. For a fair price for greens fees I would definitely come back again and with course knowledge now it would make for a better round.
Used to be a great course
Empire lakes used to be a great track, but money woes and ownership changes have taken it's toll. The fairways and greens are ok but the "rough" has been left to grow and if you hit your ball 3 feet off of the fairway you will have a difficult time finding it.
Best round ever
Tee'd off at 7:00am. Moved right along at a good pace. Course staff placed bottles of cold water throughout the course. Green were a little unpredictable but rolled true. Posted one of my best scores ever! Love this course!
great course to play
I played the course as a single one day. Another teamed up to make a foursome. The day as a single, I played in the early p.m., & played in 3 hours. The day as a 4 some, was in the a.m., and it took 4 1/2 hours. The course was in great shape, and challenging. The 2 days I played different tees. Very different course. I never used restaurants. There should have been a cart person (temps were 90's). Although there were water chests around course. I will play it again.
First time at Empire Lakes
When I heard there was an Arnold Palmer designed course I could play for under $40, I had to check it out. Course was well maintained and fairways were kept well (no patches of dirt). There were allot of singles so we kept having to let them play through our threesome.
Fun Course
I had a great time playing Empire Lakes. It was very challenging and fun couse. The greens had me guessing all day. It was worth the money.
Great value
Friendly staff and a challenging course but fair ( specially from the tips). Greens could be a little slicker, but it's a true roll. Fairway and green side sand trap needs real sand and get rid of the small pebbles or rocks. Maybe they can get a cart girl to go through the golf course, I guess the bottled waters in the few spots are good enough, as long as you don't get hungry in the middle of the front or back nine. Over all it's always great value and experience here at this course.
John Gonzalez
This is a very challenging course. A premium is placed on hitting fairways. The rough and waste areas are brutal. Good luck finding your ball when you hit it in it. The tee boxes are terrible. There are divots everywhere and some are just not level. The fairways and greens are great. The greens don't look it but they are fast! I would recommend Empire Lakes a must play...
Nice course - great views
Enjoyed playing this course. Got a deal for $30/rd and it was well worth it. Course was in great shape and there were great views of the mountains. Had some college golf team groups in front of us that slowed it down a bit (they were all walking) but it wasn't terrible. Would definitely play here again. If you play later in the day the sun can make it tough to see on the back 9.
Empire Lakes
Enjoyed a nice round of golf. Pace of play was excellent, course was in good shape.
too many mud hens
this is a great golf course very challenging. There were a few holes that the mud hens seems to really hurt the condition of the green in around green. Love the course a great test.
great pro shop staff and great course
what else do golfers need. this is great course and great value for money.
Good course
It was nice to play especially with discounted price with GolfNow.com
greens are fast. great layout
Always love playing this course. 5 set of tees makes it enjoyable for every golf skill.I hear it may close for home development . That would be a shame, so better play soon to enjoy one of the Inland empires golf gems.
overbooked and overlooked
mini shotgun went out at 12:30.I found out about that when I arrived at the course at 12:00, I was to go out at 12:57. From the 4th hole on, I waited on EVERY tee box for the group IN FRONT OF the group in front of me to tee off. Probably not going to play there again.
Consistently great course, good greens, interesting layout with challenges for everyone.
This course is a good value and a lot of fun to play. The greens are good and it a challenge for everyone, from the scratch player to beginner. The course is also well set up for women. My wife and choose to play here pretty often because we both enjoy it.
Like the course but hate the delayed tee times
Was supposed to go out at scheduled tee time and didn't tee off until 30 minutes later. They didn't tell us that there was a tournament in front of us and we waited on every single hole!!!!!! We did not finish our round, no surprise.... The course needed to inform the golfers when there is a tournament because if we had known we would not have booked a tee time.
Course on the down swing
This course has been up and down over the years and right now it's down. The only saving grace are the greens. Our tee time was 20 minutes late and they packed the course so the round was just under 5 hours. It was the other three guys I played with first time and all three said they wouldn't go back. Too bad has the potential but maybe the staff isn't getting the resources and manpower they need.
Good luck
Great layout, could be better maintained.
This has always been a good course that will challenge you and offer rewards for the successful risks. This course was a gem back in the 90's and was well worth pricey green fees asked for a round. But its not maintained very well nowadays. When you can snag a good deal here, scoop it up, but dont pay full price. The greens are very good. Quick, well maintained and readable. The fairways are above average as well. But the surrounding areas along the fairways, tees, and greens have been neglected for quite some time. Midday rounds are go poo d, usually you will get in 18. The pro shop staff are not the friendliest, I think I recognize one of the guys from Mountain Meadows where he wasnt very popular either. Generally this is an average place to play, but will challenge you...
Maintenance problems
Green were good except for Coot dropping not removed. Pace was very slow. Rain came for back nine but still slow due to fivesome. Traps were very hard, Fairways and rough need maintenance and seeding. Not the same course as it was when Nike Tour played there.
