Fantastic, Course was in Tip Top Shape
Could not believe the price. We drove over from San Diego in under 90 minutes. Warmed up and were off. Just over an hour on the front 9. Stopped for lunch then just over an hour on the back 9.
Shame on you golf now
When I got to the course there a rack rate was cheaper than what we paid through GolfNow plus their fee. I do not think I will ever use GolfNow again as I think they need to make sure you at least are getting a deal equal to the golf courses rack right S
Gem
We are long term visitors to Borrego Springs an play Borrego Springs Resort when ever we can. It is an ideal course for mid handicappers who want beautiful conditions, friendly staff, fast play, and scenic vistas. But if you play the back tees it can be challenging for and fun for the best golfers. The greens are perfect. Try the bar and restaurant. This is a great alternate to Ram Hill.
Borrego Springs golf
Always well kept course. Friendly and easy to get on the course. Practice areas make this special. Grass under every shot, lush fairways. Greens are true.
Could be great but staff needs improving
Nice layout many interesting doglegs and different length holes. Greens good condition, fairways and tees fuzzy. Good for all player levels. Greens very sloping and tricky. Fun course to play. Improvements needed are with outside staff . When it got backed up ranger drove by without speaking to anyone. Ignored problem. After golf no one available to take clubs to car. A long way to carry for customers.
A favourite
I really have a lot of time for this Course. Seems some money has been put into it this year. New sand and carts. Better pro shop. We make the drive every year from Palm Springs to play here. Very enjoyable.
Perfect conditons
The course was in Country Club condition. The grass was green and lush, kind of unheard of in So Cal on a public course. Greens were perfect condition, not fast, but perfect grass.
course conditions
the course is immaculate congrats to the greenskeeper
Very good course
Our first time there - we will back. Thouroughly enjoyed our afternoon- great value.
Desert Surprise
After a long drive from ranch Mirage, we arrived at a surprise in the desert. We found the golf course in excellent condition, the staff friendly, and the weather ideal. The wind picked up on the back nine, but overall not a big deal.
Greens and Fairways Excellent
Pace was good with a jam up on the par three's. A little overloaded from the start on their special rate day Thursdays.
A Gem in the middle of nowhere
Tipped to play Borrego Springs by a great guy in Lumpys La Quinta who said it was a fun place to play on the way to San Diego.
Course was busy but the starter got us off the back nine which we played in 1 1/2 hours and the front took a bit longer at 2 hours as we caught the field.
Course off the Blacks is quite challenging although fairways are generous enough to let rip. Greens were fantastic reasonably quick and very true. Fortunately we didn't visit many of the bunkers which did look a bit wear worn. This is due to the sand being whipped away by the winds they get in this area.
Overall a great little course that you need to be aware of otherwise you'd blast straight past it without knowing it was there!
Borrego Springs
1st time playing here, played the blacks (6569/71.2/123) with Kviser & Sr129 in 3.5 hours for $35 with a cart on their standard Monday twilight rate. The weather was 60 degrees, partly cloudy but with gusting, swirling winds. I am usually pretty good with my distances, but I misclubbed almost every approach shot for 18 holes. 15-20 yards short or long was my norm for this round. The wind would sometimes be the opposite on an approach shot as it was on your drive.
The layout reminded me of a traditional, older desert layout that had not been significantly updated. Numerous holes had forced carries or had landing areas that were blind around palm trees from the tee. Many holes had OB down @ least one side and several lakes came into play. Some tight holes, but the course was not ridiculously tight overall.
The greens looked great, putted OK, but were medium speed @ best. They really seemed slow after playing Rams Hill in the a.m.
Both the fairways and rough were excellent, very lush. The rough around the greens was very consistent, not overly punitive and some of the best to chip out of that I have played in a long time. Which was a good thing, because in the swirling winds, I missed nearly every green!
The tees were well maintained and very lush.
The sand traps were a different story from the otherwise excellent course conditions. Not well raked or maintained, and probably because it is often windy here, most of the sand has probably blown away. They were punitive to be in and in poor condition.
We had lunch @ the restaurant onsite. The food was good, but the service wasn't. We all three ordered burgers off the lunch menu that was listed @ $6.95, including fries. We were then billed $11.95? The waitress explained that she offered us the "All American Burger", which was $5 higher than the burger listed on the actual menu? There was no "All American Burger" listed on the menu, we checked afterward. Her look and actions when called on it said we just made an extra $15 off the three of you.
The course layout was average, but the course conditions except for the traps was very good to excellent. I would definitely play here again if in the area. However, I could not recommend the restaurant to anyone based on our experience there.
Surprisingly awesome experience
I won a contest that included a round at Borrego. Heck, it was worth an hour drive, I thought.
What I experienced was beyond expectations. An enjoyable, moderately challenging course.
Awesome course
I played this course at end of season during the hot months. Not many people on the course which led to a fast. This course was in excellent shape, what a treat. Free range balls too!!!! Very very friendly staff. Even the food was terrific
