Men's Golf Wins Nelson Tournament Title
Jimmy Lee and Ron Won finish
three under par tied for fourth place.
Stanford, Calif. (Oct. 31, 1999) - The Stanford men's golf team took their second tournament title of the year this weekend after winning the Nelson Invitational. Hosted by Stanford, the team posted rounds of 287, 279 and 281 for a five-under-par total score of 847. Stanford beat out Fresno State University by one stroke to win the title. Northwestern came in third with a total score of 853.

Playing individually for Stanford, Ron Won tied for fourth with a score of 210. Jim Skei finished tied for 20th, George Downing tied for 87th, and Rudy Barreto finished 103.
This tournament win marks the second win for Stanford in the 1999-2000 season after winning the Husky Invitational and finishing third at the Windon Memorial Classic. The team will not play again until Jan 31-Feb. 1 at the Ping/Arizona tournament in Tucson, Arizona.
