NCGA Parent/Junior Foursome Stroke Play Championship -- July 16-17
Poppy Hills GC

Alex and Scott Merkner took the overall gross title and Dale and Steve Phillips captured the overall net crown at the second annual NCGA Parent/Junior Foursome Stroke Play Championship at Poppy Ridge GC.

The Merkners of Napa CC used a final-round gross 74 in the foursomes (alternate shot) format to finish with a 156. The Phillips duo of Green Tree GC followed their opening net 65 with a 68 to finish at 12-under-par 132.

Winners in each of the three flights were determined by net scores, as Stephan and Stefan Von Seeger of Rancho Murieta topped the President's Flight with a 75-71 -- 146. Jim and Nicholas Knoll of Windsor GC were second at 75-73 -- 148.

In the Director's Flight, Jim and Miles Lopes of Kings CC won with a 76-64 --140, while Steve Wise of Tracy GCC and Jared Wise of Little Ringers GC finished second with a 77-65 -- 142.

Robert Jackson of North Bay and Sean Jackson of Fry Brothers GC won the Secretary's Flight with a 70-72 -- 142. Second was Stacy and Erik Egide of Indian Valley GC at 78-68 -- 146.

Following are complete final results:

OVERALL GROSS CHAMPION: 156 – Alex Merkner and Scott Merkner, Napa, 82-74.

OVERALL NET CHAMPION: 132 – Dale Phillips, and Steve Phillips, Green Tree, 65-67.
