Pleasanton Fairways Belongs in the Winner's Circle
It sits on a race track. Can you believe it? Well you better believe it because it's one of the better "par three" courses in the area.
Pleasanton Fairways is located inside the Alameda County Fairground's thoroughbred race track and it's a dandy. Ideal for golfers who still love the game but can not endure the rigors of eighteen holes.
There are three holes (one, four, six ) that play over 250 yards. Everything else ranges from approximately 120 to 175 yards.
For the more skilled players this course is dotted with smallish, undulating, turtle back greens. Getting a ball close enough for a makeable birdie putt does require talent.
The fairways are wide and for the most part straight. Just the par fours have dog legs; and the opening hole has a green that is hidden.
All but two holes (three, six) have sand--and it is packed. There are two water hazards. One is in the first fairway, the other boarders the sixth fairway and is in play on the 8th hole.
The course is well maintained. There is no rough to speak of and for the most part, out of bounds means your ball is on the race track. The greens are slow and a little bouncy in places.
The club house looks like a converted maintenance shed. But it is quaint and comfortable. There is a nice patio area.
For fun and a very reasonable round of golf this is a jewel.
