BYU wins the team title

FRESNO, Calif. (Oct. 16)-Long Beach State men's golf team finished sixth at the Fresno Lexus Golf Classic at Belmont Country Club, which started Friday and concluded today. Long Beach fired a three-round 1085, finishing at five over par.

BYU won the team title with a team score of 1034 (-46), while the host school, Fresno State, was second at 1053 (-27). San Diego State (1075, -5) placed third, with Nevada (1082, +2) and North Texas (1084, +4) finishing ahead of the 49ers.

Brian Merrick was LBSU’s top finisher, tied for 24h place at 217 (+1). Steve Mena tied at 33rd with a 218 (+2), with John Mallinger tied at 42nd at 219 (+3). Jason Beach and Perry Dickey were among six players tied at 47th (220, +4), with Kevin Wurtz placing 53rd at 221, five over par.
