WCLGT gains sponsorship for the 2004-2006 seasons
Since the inception of the West Coast Ladies Golf Tour two years ago, the tour has grown both in recognition and in talent. The mission of the tour has been to provide the best programs, staff, and professional tournaments to fully meet the expectations and desires of the players, sponsors, golf facilities, and the public. The opportunities that this tour has to offer are tremendously exciting and continue to grow each day.
The Tour's home course is Oak Valley Golf Club, in Beaumont, Calif. The club houses an incredible practice facility for the women to develop their games, and a first class golf course for them to test their skills. The events are based mainly in the southwestern US, but recently WCLGT has introduced the WCLGT's Asian Swing Tour, the premier women's golf tour in Asia, in an effort to bring professional women's golf to areas where opportunities are currently lacking.
Oak Valley Golf Academy, The Chinese-American Golf Foundation, and several other major sponsors have agreed to support the WCLGT's US Tour and Asian Swing Tour for the next three years. The 2004 season will bring purses of $40,000 at each of the US events, and purses starting at $30,000 for the international events.
Orient Golf will be hosting the 2004 Taipei Women's Golf Classic in November of 2004 with a purse currently set at $50,000, and there will be 40 player sponsorships available from the Oak Valley International Golf Academy.
The tour was founded, formatted, and maintained in a class of its own, striving to be a new type of tour, a Player's tour. Here the best interests of the players, sponsors and community are continually considered. The WCLGT Tournaments are open to amateur and professional female golfers of any age or ability. Entry fees are minimal, and there is no membership requirement. Just bring your clubs, tees, and competitive spirit.
