
PALM DESERT, Calif. -- For golfers, there is nothing quite like sinking a putt on a lush, emerald green surrounded by sapphire waters and sunshine skies. On Friday, May 9, 2003 more than 140 golfers will come together not only for a great day on the links, but also to help raise much needed funds for Palm Springs Valley children in the 2nd Annual Marriott Desert Charities Invitational.
With a goal of exceeding the $50,000 raised last year, proceeds from the 2nd Annual Marriott Desert Charities Invitational at The Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort & Spa will benefit programs at Children's Miracle Network and Loma Linda University Children's Hospital as well as various other charities in the Palm Springs Valley.
The entry fee is $195 per player, per round and includes box lunch, evening cocktail reception, gourmet dinner buffet and awards ceremony. Tournament sponsorships are available for $500 to $1500. The format is modified scramble at the Desert Springs Palm Course.
The tournament is hosted by the Marriott's Desert Business Council, which is comprised of The Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort & Spa, Rancho Las Palmas Marriott Resort & Spa, Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa, Marriott's Desert Springs Villas, Marriott's Shadow Ridge Resort, Marriott Vacation Club International, Courtyard by Marriott Palm Desert, Courtyard by Marriott Palm Springs, Residence Inn Palm Desert and Fairfield Inn Palm Desert.
