Great day for most part
I played this course on beautful hot day.
I would give it 7 out of 10.
Course conditions were great. Tees were perfect, fairways were awesome and greens were good. A little inconsistent. Some greens ran at an 11 stimp others 7 or 8, but really not much to complain about. Overall, you will be hard pressed to find a better condition course. Similar to Wente or Poppy Ridge but 1/4 price. Course is well marked with distances on sprinkler heads for most of the holes.
On negatives:After playing 8 holes in about a small shot gun was put out in front of us, we replayed holes 8 and 9 twice but still ran into the shotgun on hole 11. It took another 2 1/2 hours to finish round.
There was no course layout on card, cart or tee box. So much to my suprise after o hit a couple tee sheets right of center but in fairway did I see there were hidden water hazards.
The last 7 holes there were either no yardage markers or they were wrong. Hole 13, my ball was almost on top of a sprinkler head which read 113. But I was about 60 yards ahead of the 150 marker. Etc
Over all I enjoyed the experience and will be back, but I will bring my sky caddie next time!!!
Great golf course!
Loved it! Beautiful natural surroundings, great layout and variety of holes. It's a Troon course, so the greens, fairways, and tee boxes are all in excellent shape. Nice driving range with balls just waiting in piles. The first six holes are average difficulty and a good warm-up. Holes 7 through 16 are a real challenge. 17 and 18 will help you get your confidence back. ;-) From the blue tees, you better be a long hitter and accurate from the fairways. These are not driver-wedge holes.
Diablo Grande is a quality experience and a great value, well worth the one hour drive to get here. This is my go-to course.
Excellent
This one of the best courses in the valley.
Fun in the sun
Got on for 13 bucks on golf now and had a 10 buck reward so my out of pocket was only 6 bucks well worth the drive. The front nine is nice but the back nine is murderers row. Be prepared to hit good shot after good shot on back. You will have some long carries over ravines . The greens were in great shape ...
Ranch is great.
Always in great condition. Many challenging holes. Lots of variety. Also I always see some wildlife - deer, coyote, etc.
The Best Course, i've ever seen or played...
Dear Woody,
Diablo Grande – Ranch Course, is everything you said it was, (and I should have bought more balls!)
Desert Dry California, drive up a winding road of rolling hills, a Golf Course, once on the PGA Tour, Greener than any Golf Course I have ever seen, springs out!
If you ever get to San Jose, Modesto or even San Francisco…get to Patterson, California, Golfers you wouldn’t be disappointed, it simply that great a course. You have to See and Play it Yourself, to appreciate its beauty, because the darkest green, fairways, greens, roughs, are surrounded by the beauty of the native wheat, or straw grasses, wild rabbits, and deer roam free about…
It is immaculate, it’s the most beautiful course I’ve ever played, every hole is guarded by “potatoes”, there are dog legs left and right, elevation changes. And what I really like about it…every hole…
The staff is great, Tommy especially, Chandra also…I’m a visitor from GEORGIA, and was offered, to be picked up and brought to the course if need be! You can’t BUY service like that…I’m gonna play this course as much as I can, before my vacation ends, and You will too!.
Love the outside Bar...
foot hill paradise
well maintained. all around fine course. would play here every week if i lived in the area.
Wish they would bring back the other course
We live in San Jose which is almost a 2 hour drive. We would usually buy a 36 hole special and spend the day there. I preferred the other course for it's peacefulness since there are no homes on that course. Basically the drought killed the course. Sad
PGA conditions
Greens are perfect, not too fast. Less break than you read.
Awesome
The course is in great shape. One of my favorite places to play despite my lack of ability to score well.
Long way to go but definitely worth it
Absolutely love this course, although it was a long trek from Santa Clara area. Most holes are framed by heather, but does not really come it to play except maybe 2nd shot on #9. Greens were VERY firm, which made conditions more difficult (good in my belief) especially down wind hard to hold. Greens were good speed and true, conditions great and one our 3-some played through 4-some in front of us on 4th hole, we were all alone out there for rest of the late afternoon. How can you beat a great course at a low price. Only bad part is distance to get there.
Out there!
On my way back from the Bay, I decided to take a short detour off the 5 and play Diablo. The course was in very good shape and proved to be an extremely pleasant day of golf. The only down side to the layout is a couple of awkward blind shots where it seemed to penalize good shots. Spectacular elevation changes make for awesome views.
Great course in the middle of nowhere
This place can look like Ireland a little in the early Spring with the surrounding green rolling hills, but Summer and Fall? Barren and hellish with wind, heat and rolling hills of dead grass. The course itself is always in great shape and very well maintained. The only criticism I have is the greens aren't quite fast enough, but they are very nice and true. It's not the most interesting layout in the world but with a few elevations and water its not bad. It is a challenging test and if you're a high handicapper...bring plenty of balls. I miss the Legends course...it had more character. But doesn't everybody who plays here?
the good ol ranch
I have played the ranch course many times, course is still in good condition. only issue was the greens were punched and sanded. I think golf courses should post on there website when they are going to punch that way you don't pay money for play golf on a course that you cant putt on. wish they would reopen the legends. still the ranch is a great course.
Must play
No matter if you book it through GN or play regular price it's well worth it to play.
Worth the Drive
If you can get there, play it!!!
5 stars
Every time I come play the course looks better than the last time. U rarely have to wait to hit in between strokes. Not a place for a hack golfer..
Very fun, challenging links style golf course..
