Temporary conditions not as good, but okay for easy walking and fast play
I like the flat layout and wide fairways at PA Muni. I never lose a ball here. Even with the temporary par 67 set up, the distances are still challenging enough. Easy to walk.
Played pre-upgrade so a lot of the course is not in great condition.
Hopefully the course will be a better value after the upgrade.
Needs Attention
The course has seen better days. The greens were just OK. I am glad I got my tee time online. The course needs some attention and I am looking forward to the renovation.
PA Muni is a forgiving course for the average player
This course is great for the player that doesn't hit it straight all the time. The greens are well maintained but there are dirt patches in the fairway on the 1st hole.
I would recommend this course for players that shoot around the 90's or 100's.
The course was nice and flat for walking
The staff was great and very friendly. The entire round went fairly quickly. Not much waiting around.
The greens were great, but the course needs work.
The course is long enough, but kind of dull. Sort of length = difficulty. Also, many brown patches, squirrel dens, and hard sand in the bunkers.
Needs a lot of maintenance
Tons of gopher holes throughout course, and many bare spots on fairways and tee boxes. Course maintenance seems to have been significantly reduced.
Decent layout
It's been a quite a few years since the last time I played here. It hasn't changed. Fun, challenging and windy. I believe they are going to start reworking the course next year. The overall conditions of the course are playable. Small, medium-fast greens that will accept the ball with just a little runout.
Typical muny course. Special rates reasonable.
Fairways in decent condition. Some ground under repair. A sign said the course was due for renovations, and it could use some.. Not a course for serious golfers as there are lots of beginners who are not well-versed in golf etiquette/rules, which is distracting. Much needed item: signage from green to next tee. Good value for a muny if you get special GolfNow rates.
Course is wide open, but still has challenges of staying on fairway. Bunkers well maintained. Greens nice and smooth.
Recently I have been playing on narrow courses, so playing Palo Alto was great. Problem was my partner and I lost our control , because the course was open. Timing and staff make for a perfect golf day .
What`s with the Greens?!?
I have played PA for years. And while the greens are usually good to at times excellent, they are presently not in very good shape. There were alot of inconsisent rolls and those putts that break several times on the way to the holes.
They are also starting to prepare for some major work to the course and there are some sandy areas in play (like in the landing zone for the tee shot on 16) that appear to be temporary greens in the making.
straight forward course
Very dried out course and very bumpy greens although soft. Windy day made for some very long holes. Also followed a 5 some made up of children. Not allowed anywhere I've played before.
this course has average features
Green is well maintained and not bad.
however, fairway is need to be maintained.
long par fours
long par fours
some windy condition lately
some bird droppings on the greens
Good course if you like flat 18 holes, needs maintenance of roughs.
We had a decent time overall but like I mentioned in the summary, course needs some maintenance specially in the roughs which are very overgrown.
Also, we played in the afternoon and the place can get very windy - just FYI.
It is very challenging course. Need maintenance attention.
It is very challenging course. I will play again......
Very good!
Never will play here again
I booked a tee time online at 2:30pm. I showed up early at 2:00 pm only to tee off at 3:00 pm. Before teeing off the lady at the golf shop wouldn't give me a golf cart because I didn't have a $1 cash deposit. The lady at the golf shop was extremely rude and not willing to work with me on the dollar deposit as far as charging to my card. (but she gave people infront of me a cart without the deposit) After getting the dollar to get the cart they didn't have any carts available. Not only did I tee off late but the group infront of me was extremely slow and hitting 3 balls per hole. No marshal to be found anywhere on the course.
Course looked great as long as you stayed on the fairway...
Played last Sunday and the course looked great but if you landed in one of the MANY bunkers that surrounded each hole you were in for a nice hard as clay surprise. Not sure why the bunkers needed watering but they were stiff as heck and I couldn't play a true bunker shot out of any of them. Needless to say I feel I wasted about 6-8 strokes due to the poor bunker conditions. For the $60+ that I payed to play (incl. cart) one might think the rough would've been a little more manicured instead of looking like a US Open course. Staff was nice but hard time recommending this course for the money and the conditions.
