In between management.

I was unimpressed with the course conditions, but am looking forward to giving it another shot when the new management gets settled in.

Course has potential.

Given that on Golf Now, the Vellano CC had an astrisk -indicating that greens had been aerated, expectations for the course were not terribly high. However, our threesome was very underwhelmed with the general conditions of the course! The course layout is excellent - with every hole presenting a unique challenge and picturesque views throughout. But, the lack of course maintenance is glaring! Bunkers not raked in weeks, thistles and weeds EVERYWHERE - just hard to believe a nice course could be "let go" so badly! I'll not go back soon!

Needs work

With the Hot Deal rate it wasn't bad value but given the fair conditions I sure wouldn't have wanted to pay anymore. I can't critique the greens as they were recently punched (knew about this in advance so condition of greens was expected) tees were in good condition but the fairways were completely browned out and lots of weeds. Bunkers had little to no sand in most and lots of stones. Course is scenic with lots of elevation change but all the switchbacks getting up and down the slopes does extend the length of the round. Would need to hear about significant upgrade in conditions before coming back.

What a mess, at least I'm not a member

A private club that has fallen into disrepair. The greens and tee boxes are the only thing that is kept in decent shape. Weeds everywhere, including the bunkers. A lot of elevation change that makes walking difficult, but you'll have to because each cart fails to make it the full 18 holes.

Poor everything

Over priced!! I had high expectation on this course and way disappointed in all areas:
1. Poor condition - green is average but around the greens is very poor - it's called rough cut.
2. Layout - unfair to say the least! Hit a great drive off the tee then look for your ball; what's up with those deep and narrow bunkers? I have not even seen that on tours I watched! Crazy design.
3. Speed of play - expect six hours. Private members play as if they own the courses. We'll I guess they do. They have a Marshall that just drives around. I also complained and nothing happened.
4. Service - not friendly staff. Starter wasn't friendly at first and did not even say anything about possible slow play and late start. Waited for Golf balls on the driving range for 20 minutes until we called.
5. Recommendation - your kidding! My friend and I said even if they give us free play, we won't play this course. Not worth the trip!

Bad customer service

1 tee time 2:08 PM, waited 40 minutes, reason no cart availability.
2 not friendly staff.
3 no food after 4pm.
4 no yardage marks, no gps.
5 very slow pace, over 5 hours.

Poor greens

I've played this course a couple times and it's a great layout and a very fun course to play. It is a more difficult course and club selection is important, specially when the wind gets blowing. When we played yesterday, I have never seen the greens in that bad of shape which was a real disappointment. There was unfixed divot marks everywhere (around 7-8 per green) and a lot of patchy spots. Maybe once they punch the greens they will look better and roll more true.

Overall it's a pretty nice course with great views. Once the greens are in better condition I would play here again

Hope the new owners can up their game

The course was challenging but that was the ONLY good thing about it. There are several other courses at this price range that are a much better value. There was no course marshal, and it REALLY needed one, no food/beverage cart on the course and going back to the clubhouse was not really convenient, course was in just ok playable condition, greens kind of hammered, but the absolute worst part was it took us 5, count them FIVE hours to play JUST 15 holes!!!! I won't be back, in case you were wondering.

Ok if you get a deal.

Got a deal for $22 ... not bad for 18 holes with cart. Had big expectations for this Private Country Club/ Greg Norman Design layout, but pretty disappointed to be honest. Spent too long driving in the cart between holes and from mountainous elevated tees. Lots of forced carries over canyons off the tee boxes. Fairways firm and fast (and dormant). My buddy was losing balls every other hole from tee shots since the holes were so tight. Greens stimping at 10 (they were in good condition), but the green contouring is ridiculous on some greens. Pins were placed on edges of ridges. Our group had several 20-40 ft putts roll back to our feet because of the slopes despite rolling up to within 2-3 ft of hole. Lots of 3 and 4 putts which slowed pace of play right down. Not sure if the course is normally windy, but we had strong winds the day we played which made it really tough.
Staff were friendly, but nobody loaded our bags onto carts at the bag drop and we had to ask directions to putting green and first tee. No starter on duty.
Worth playing once for $22 deal, but not rushing back anytime soon.

Great day out!

Went out with 11 buddies and course condition was great. We went through all terrains in 4.5hrs.
A little more driving time than usual outing but worth the money. Good shots with accuracy rewards with no sweat walking down the hill.

Warning! !!!

If anyone wants to play this course you must be advised to arrive10 minutes before your tee time .they will not let you go to any facility nor let you inside around the clubhouse if your not a member. you must wait out in the parking lot till it's time for you to check in. Awful unfriendly stuff .Very very unfortunate for this golf course ownwer. The stuff is very unprofessional and they make you feel very very unwelcome. Wonder why they went from private to semi-private.

Ghost town.

There was no one around. Hard to understand why parking lot was empty and course although spectacular looks neglected. One attendant said course had been sold and waiting for new staff and carts? Didnt have or offer a lot of information.
Greens were fast bunkers need help fairways are dried out. Layout is difficult and cant complain for the price.

I was there for a family golf outing yesterday Monday.
The course condition was quite good, green everywhere, probably due to lots of rains we had recently in California. The course layout is somewhat challenging but fun to play. The pace of play was good, no waiting at any holes. We really enjoyed golfing there.
