Great Experience at Rancho Canada East
I played this course as a single in early May on a somewhat chilly, overcast day while on vacation. Course traffic was light, though I did have to play thru two gracious foursomes. The course was in terrirfic shape, though the greens may have been a week or two post-aeration and affected some putts. However, the beautiful scenery more than made up for those! The staff was very helpful and attentive. I wish I could play there more often, but, alas, I'm on the other coast. GolfNow arranged a terrific rate for me ($49 vs $90) while I was in the clubhouse, and I was able to get on the course immediately. I'm completely pleased with my experience at Rancho Canada and with GolfNow.
The more things change, the more they stay the same
Both Rancho Courses are great value for the Monterey Peninsula. I played the west course and it was in fine shape. The pace of play was fantastic. I've enjoyed player here for 35 years and the course has always been one of the he best values in golf.
Good Value
Course in good shape...can easily play under 4 hours
Valley beauty
peaceful setting, friendly people around the course as we had some difficulty in finding where to play on the next hole.
green uneven, course not well marked otherwise a nice round of golf.
East rancho
Tried to check in. We were advised that our tee time had been paid for...?.we were sent on our way. When we went to the starter, he wanted a receipt which we did not have. Evidently they had given our time to someone else but they couldn't explain why. Had to back and pay and fortunately we got another time available. Very strange.
Poor Course Management
Unfortunately as a twosome we were placed behind a five-some of locals. From Hole #1 thru #18, we waited on EVERY SHOT! Understand that some may consider a 2-some having no rights, but common courtesy says when golfers behind you are standing obviously waiting for every shot they make, something should give.
Mentioned to pro shop following -- they knew exactly the group of locals -- and stated they only require a 5-some to take carts and apologized. Again, the issue is courtesy to fellow golfers! There were many open holes ahead of the group -- no excuse whatsoever. They just acted obllivious to the situation; obviously accustomed to having it 'their way'.... and they backed up the entire field of players! Never a marshall in sight..
We have always enjoyed playing this course -- done so many times. Hopefully we can retunr for a more enjoyable round!
Golfer in Red
The course was not in good shape. But the price was right. The weather was windy the day we played. Greens were bumpy.
Not so good
This is the first time I played the East Course and that was a disappointment. I have played the West course several times and it have always been satisfied.
Slow Day
The weather was perfect but the pace of play was horrible. Thought it was due to the great weather and a busy day. It wasn't, as we were finishing on 11 we noticed 4 carts and 7 players on the 13th green, not cool, which the culprit to a long day! I call the club house to let them know and they just said we will radio out to the course, problem is no marshals on the course to police such disregard. Nothing done, as we saw the same 7 on every green we could see. That is my complaint, other than that course conditions are poor due to lack of water and grooming of the course. Rough!!!
disappointed and happy
the greens had recently been punched which made for bouncy puts. I shop a 79. Rancho West is one of my favorite courses
Best deal in Carmel area?
I rated this an excellent value based on my last-minute tee time rate of $26. Based on that, this is one of the best values I've ever received. This is a lovely track tucked into the Carmel Valley. It is slightly rough around the edges (only slightly), but I find that charming. The greens were in great shape, although most of my putts had little break. I thought the course played a bit more difficult than that 123 slope, but that may be due to my first trip to the course. Highly recommended at a discounted rate.
Avoid This Course Like The Plague!!!!
Where Do I Start, I booked on golfnow $39 plus booking fee, so about $43.There was no notification on aeration. The man who took my money cold and lightly rude told me I could switch to the east course but there was 100 people in front of us and the west course was wide open and aerated a week ago.We played the west course waited 5-10 minutes on most tee boxes, the aeration was as bad as it gets the ball bounced and wiggled on the green the holes on the green in many cases had no sand at all.The bunkers are just dirt.I will never come back to this course again. I have been playing golf for 35 years this rank as one of the worst golf days ever.To top it off I mentioned the conditions to guy behind the counter in the clubhouse he said aeration was posted on golfnow it was not , he is either a liar or just did not know.
Very nice layout in beautiful Carmel Valley.
Couse is a nice challenge for intermediate level golfers. I enjoy it every time I play here.
This course is a challenge .
I enjoy my round , the gorges and trees , narrow Fairways were fun. I played the East I seem to play it better. I look forward to coming back soon.
Great deal
It's a good course and pretty challenging. The only issues were the weather & pace of a few of the groups in front of us but those things are out of the courses hands.
Great Course!
The course was beautiful, the greens were great, the views exceptional as always. Only thing that went wrong is the cart went did on the 14th hole, which would not have been a big deal if we were not on a fast track round. The group behind us went from a three some to a pair, and was on our heels. Tried calling into the pro shop, and the restaurant, with nothing but an answering machine to leave a message. I would recommend a number that players can text or call to get assistance right away. Other than that great morning on the course.
can be tricky
Course was in pretty good condition. Ģreens were quite fast. Some very narrow fairways but they were fun. Tough to play out of bunkers because of the very course sand.
Rancho west
I had a great time the course is in great shape and its a challenging course fun for all
bad green
greens are too bad.
i don't want play again this course.
